Scent: Scent in double chocolate stout is dark and rich, full of chocolate and coffee aromas.

Taste: Double chocolate taste is... you guessed it... very rich chocolate. Other things you can taste are coffee, rich malt, hints of iron, hint of bitterness.

Aftertaste: Aftertaste in Youngs double chocolate stout similiar to chocolate made from 70% cacao. You can also taste hints of coffee that grown by the time.

Tämä meripihkan värinen viski on erinomainen hankinta. Tuoksultaan tämä viski on makea, täyteläinen, sekä myös sherrymäinen ja vähän appelsiinimainen. Maultaan viskissä erottuu selvästi, että sitä on säilytetty sherrytynnyrissä, josta se on saanut makeita sherrymäisiä vivahteita. Maussa tulee myös esiin hento vanilja, hunaja ja hedelmäisyys. Jälkimaultaan viski on pitkä ja erittäin nautinnollinen.

This amber colored whisky is an excellent choice. Whiskys smell is sweet, rich and and hints of cherry and orange can be tasted. From its taste this whisky is very tasty because it has been stored in sherry barrels, from which the whisky has gotten its sherry aromas. You can also taste hints of vanilla, honey and fruits. Whiskys aftertaste is long and very enjoyable.

Asiaan!

Ennen kuin aloitan viskiarvioiden tekemisen, haluan antaa pari tärkeää neuvoa viskien nauttimisesta. Ensinnäkin lasin valitseminen, vaikka tämä kuulostaakin vähän pelleilyltä, on tärkeää. Parhaiten viskin nauttimiseen soveltuu siihen tarkoitukseen valmistettu viskilasi. Alla on kuvat kahdesta eri viskilasista, joista toinen on elokuvista, sekä tv-ohjelmistakin tuttu viskilasi, joka on tavallisen juomalasin näköinen. Toinen lasi on puolestaan viskilasi, joka muistuttaa muodoltaan tulppaania. Tämä lasi ohjaa viskin aromit paremmin nenään, kuin suoralaitainen lasi ja antaa näin ollen paremman “tuntuman” viskiin. Jos et taas omista viskilasia, tai et sellaista halua ostaa, voit ihan hyvin käyttää konjakkilasia, joka on kumminkin parempi vaihtoehto, kuin suoralaitainen viskilasi. Kun viskiä lähdetään maistelemaan tärkeintä on rauhallisuus. Älä kiirehdi, haistele viskiä, muista maistella sitä huolella ja pyörittele sitä suussasi. Maistelu tilanteessa viskiä voi laimentaa parilla tilkalla vettä ja tämä voikin tuoda viskin aromit paremmin esiin, mutta älkää missään nimessä käyttäkö jäitä!

On to the point!

Before I start making whisky testings I want to give few tips from how to enjoy whisky. First of what glass you should pick? It sound funny but it's important. To enjoy best whiskys you must pick a glass that is specially made for them. There are pics of two whisky glasses one of them is common in movies and TV-series and the other is a glass that looks like a tulip. This glass directs the aromas and smell from whisky directly to your nose and gives you a good "feeling" to whisky. If you do not own a whisky glass you can use cognac glass which is still better than a straight glass. When you start tasting whisky the most important thing is to be calm. Don't rush, smell it, remember to taste it completely and make rounds in your mouth with it. In the tasting you can use few drops of water to bring forward the aromas, but in any cases DON'T use ice cubes.

15. Testiolut -Vihdoin ja viimein- Cock O' The Walk

Cock o' The Walk kuuluu scottilaisiin punaisiin Ale oluisiin.

Cock o' The Walk:in väri muistuttaa enitein meripihkan väriä, sillä se on punertavan ruskeaa. Sen väri, pullon itsensä mukaan tulee siinsanoitusta "kristallimaltaista", joita ovat esimerkiksi Cascade ja Bobek.

Cock o' The Walk:in maku puolestaan on kitkerän oloinen, sen mausta voi erottaa voimakkaan mausteisuuden lisäksi myös hyvin sitruksisen ja maltaisen maun, joista lie kirpeys johtuu.

Cock o' The Walk sopii mielestäni parhaiten lounas- tai päivällispöytään, mausteisen ruuan ja miedon kastikkeen tasapainoksi.

Cock o' The Walk on hieman muita maistelemiani oluita hintavampi, kaupassa 0,5L pullo maksaa viitisen euroa, mutta kaipa hinta on vain pieni murhe muuten erinomaiseen ja hyvän makuiseen oluseen.

Cock o' The Walk is an scotch red ale.

Cock o' The Walk's color is like amber, it comes from crystal malts that are example Cascade and Bobek.

Cock o' The Walk's taste is bitter and you can find aromas that are spicy, citric and malty.

 Cock o' The Walk is at it's best when enjoyed with lunch or dinner, spicy food and mild sauce are also good.

Cock o' The Walk is a little expensive to my salary but money isn't the case because this beer has earned it's price and quality.

14. Testiolut: Harviestoun Brewery, Old Engine Oil porter

Old Engine oil porter on scottilaisen panimon: Harviestoun brewerin valmistama porter olut.

Old Engine oil porter on maultaan rikas, lakritsinen, suklaisen makea, paahdetun ohran kitkerä ja kokonaisuudeltaan erittäin aromikas.

Old Engine oil porter on koostumukseltaan erittäin tumma samoin kuin eri kirjoituksessa mainittu London Porter. Se on koostumukseltaan myös siirappinen eli ei niin helposti juotava kuin esimerkiksi tavallinen lager olut.

Old Engine oil porterin jälkimaku on makean suklainen ja ohran paahtamisesta johtuen myös pieni kahvin aromi hiipii kielelle kun vähän aikaa on kulunut viime siemauksesta.

Alkoholiprosentti Old Engine oil porterissa on 6%, Old Engine oilia luultavasti saa alkosta, mutta itse en ole käynyt sitä vielä hakemassa vaan tutusti maistellut sitä paikassa nimeltä La Barre.

Old Engine Oil tastes rich, licorice, chocolaty sweet, bitter like roasted barley and is completely very full of different aromas.

 Old Engine Oil porter is a very dark beer just as the London Porter is even darker. It's texture is syrupy which means you can't drink it so easy.

after taste of Old Engine Oil porter is chocolaty and hints of coffee aroma are coming too. Aromas sneak down to your tongue when there has been some time from your last sip.

13. Testiolut: Grimbergen dubbel/double amber

Grimbergen dubbel/double on yhdistelmä tummaa olutta ja vehnäolutta. Sitä on valmistettu entisaikoihin luostareissa, jonka takia se on luostariolut.

Grimbergen dubbel/double on maultaan rikas tumman oluen ansiosta, makea vehnäoluen ansiosta, aromikas, hieman kitkerä,
Grimbergen dubbel/double on väriltään tummia oluita hieman vaaleampi, sillä vehnäolut on todella vaaleaa. Oluen vaahtoisuus on keskiluokkainen eli olut on keskivaahtoinen. Sen alkoholi prosentti on 6.5% jonka vuoksi sitä saa vain alkosta ja joistakin kapakoista/baareista.

Grimbergen dubbelin/doublen jälkimaku on rittäin pehmeä, hieman makea ja tumman oluen maltainen.
Se sopii hyvin juotavaksi mausteisten ruokien tasapainottajana tai sellaisenaan nautintoon EI humalan saavuttamiseksi.
